About

My love of flat print combined with pattern and texture is what influences my image making and I have recently rediscovered my love of print techniques whilst studying for my MA at Cambridge. My favourite printmaking method is monotype because there is always an element of risk that I enjoy in the process.   My background is in textiles: I was Head Dyer at the English National Opera for many years, printing and dyeing fabrics for costume and film and I am always drawn to vivid colours and decorative elements. I was then an art teacher and I still occasionally teach in primary schools, which proves to be a constant well of inspiration. I'm looking forward to continuing to create both fiction and non-fiction picture books for children.   I draw from every day life and from my imagination and post online using the hashtag #drawingadaychallenge.
